“My name is Benjamin. I'm 29 years old and I grew up in a small town in South Carolina and DRUGS have been the love of my life since I was 13 years old."
WHERE I BEEN:
"Drugs have been the most painful lie I’ve ever experienced. They were also a really good illusionist. They made me feel like I was on the highest
mountain when, in reality, I was in the darkest pits of hell. I walked away from my wife, kids, family, and promising careers. I’ve been incarcerated numerous times and survived events only God knows why.
WHERE I WAS:
I was homeless living in tent city and had given up on myself, life and most of all God. I was just an empty vessel traveling in a vicious cycle controlled by me putting drugs in my system trying to suppress past trauma and
mistakes I made.I was certain my story would end at a young age from an overdose, but I didn't wanna give up so so one day I looked up and said 3 simple words I truly meant “I NEED HELP” and I walked out of tent city on a unknown path where in due time I met Michael Harvey.
WHERE I AM:
Michael saw something in me that I couldn’t see. Just in a few months he showed me how to escape my past and let go and strive forward. He took me off the street and made sure I was safe, helped me find work,
introduced me to amazing public figures who stand behind me and support me. He showed me that when life gets tough, I have options to choose from to handle those situations without having to use a substance. He saved my life. I don’t wanna die anymore. I wanna grow from my mistakes instead of looking at the failure. He gave me HOPE”
